Barbara started her career in the advertising and marketing industry. After 10 years in this corporate sector, she founded Barbara Macdonald Interior Design which she ran for twenty years designing interiors for corporate and residential clients around the globe. Alongside her professional interests, Barbara is also a keen volunteer and supporter of the arts. She sat on the board of Soulpepper and co-chaired the capital campaign to build the Young Theatre.
She continues her long standing involvement with Partners in Art where she was Co-Chair, sat on the Board and chaired several committees. Barbara is also actively involved with The Art Gallery of Ontario where she works on special projects and acquisition committees. Her keen interest in the visual arts prompted her to obtain a Masters in Contemporary Art, MA, Sotheby’s Institute of Art, NY. Her studies sparked a deep and passionate interest in Public Art. Most recently, she joined The Bentway Arts Advisory. Barbara is committed to pursuing endeavours that explore and expand Toronto’s public art practices.
