Christy Stoeten (She/her) is a Toronto-based dance artist and educator driven by a deep belief in movement’s power to promote connection, expression, and care. She is a graduate of the Professional Training Program at The School of Toronto Dance Theatre and has performed with Canadian choreographers including Allison Cummings, Jenn Goodwin, and Meryem Alaoui. Her choreography has been presented by Luminato, SummerWorks, DACI, and Public Energy, often investigating humour in the everyday and beauty in the mundane. She has also held residencies at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Leña Residency, and the National Ballet of Canada.
As an educator, Christy has taught at York University, University of Toronto, and many other institutions. She is currently on staff at Swansea School of Dance and is a faculty member in Community Arts at Canada’s National Ballet School. Her commitment to community arts is evident in the programs she has developed, including an adapted initiative for seniors that promotes creative expression and well-being, and a specialized dance program for cancer patients in partnership with Princess Margaret Hospital’s AYA Program.
