Hima Batavia is an interdisciplinary artist, cultural/non-profit leader and community organizer based as a settler in T’karonto. Hima’s work blends performance, installation, social practice, and media arts through duration, ritual, and participation. She treats the body as a site of inquiry into speculative possibilities unearthed through ancestral memory, somatic activation and land relations. In dialogue with feminist temporalities, decolonial theory, and cross-cultural performance practices, her work seeks to resist capitalist logics of atomization, proposing relational modes of repair and world-making towards a politics of interconnectedness across time, space and species. She is currently pursuing an MFA in Intermedia at Concordia University.
