Kirk Lisaj

Kirk Lisaj is a photographer and image-maker based in Montreal, Canada.  His photographs work to transcend moments into mystical visual gems, from transforming modern mundane objects into surreal still-lifes or capturing vibrant portraits of friends and strangers. Inspired by the visual rhythms of nature, nightlife and queerness, his images highlight the absurdity and romanticism of the human experience while also capturing his subjects in a tender and considered manner. With an educational background in social work, Lisaj pivoted towards photography in 2020 as a means to compassionately document the world around him while implementing the values he developed through his time as a social worker. Through his time short time as a photographer, Lisaj’s career has spanned across the commercial and art world, with his unique style granting him opportunities to work in the worlds of fashion, television, film, music, and beyond. His work has been featured by the likes of Vogue, DAZED, Office Magazine and FACT, he has worked on campaigns for brands including SSENSE, Converse and Vitaly, and is a recipient of CAFA’s 2022 NewGen Prize. Lisaj will be releasing his debut solo book this spring titled “Again and Now Faster” through Virginia-based publishing house Pomegranate Press.
