The Melanin Skate Crew was founded in the summer of 2020 during the pandemic as a medium to support the physical/mental health of community members (especially those who identify as Black, African, and Caribbean) through rollerskating, culture, and music. They have since grown to a community of over 2000 members who participate in Afro-Caribbean themed events, workshops, lessons, and online engagements across Toronto, Durham, and the GTA! Since their inception, they have an active social media presence, a merchandise line, and a passionate executive team who constantly seek opportunities to grow the brand and community through collaborations. Their goal is to make rollerskating a community-building movement to protect and advance the culture for years to come.
