Public Demonstrations

The Bentway recognizes that public spaces like ours have long functioned as sites for advocacy. Per City of Toronto protocols, any event organizers planning to hold a demonstration onsite must inform Toronto Police Services in advance. See the City’s guidelines here

If you are planning to hold a demonstration at one of The Bentway’s spaces, please email us at [email protected] to let us know the date and plans so that our on-site team is aware.

Please note:

  • To manage safety on our sites and pre-booked events, our staff may assign demonstrators specific zones within The Bentway site for their gathering.
  • Amplified sound is not allowed in Bentway spaces unless a sound permit has been obtained.
  • Posting of signage or any physical material directly onto The Bentway or City of Toronto property is prohibited. Equipment may not be set up and vehicles are not allowed on site.
  • All demonstrations must follow the law and not call for discrimination, violence, hate speech, or the oppression of vulnerable populations or equity-seeking groups. Images of violent, graphic, or disturbing content are prohibited.
