Roller Skate Lessons

Learn how to roll with us! This summer, we’re offering weekly roller skate lessons for those who are looking to gain basic skills. Our expert instructors will help novice skaters build confidence on wheels and navigate our figure-eight trail. 

Learn how to roll(er skate) with us! Join us for weekly beginner roller skating lessons on our signature figure-eight skate trail under the Gardiner. Led by experienced local instructors, these sessions provide a welcoming and supportive environment to help you build confidence on wheels. 

Whether you’re lacing up skates for the first time or looking to refine your basic skills, this class covers essential techniques, including: 

  • Finding balance and learning proper striding 
  • Turning and stopping with control 
  • Protective falling strategies to stay safe 
  • Fundamental edge work to improve stability

About the Lessons: 

  • This is not a cumulative series; each lesson is a standalone session.  You can join anytime in the season for a one-off lesson or book a few to get more practice. 
  • Each week we will have two 45 minute sessions, one starting at 6:30pm and one at 7:30pm. Spaces are limited to two groups of 10 people each hour, so book early to secure your spot! 
  • Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled start time to check in and arrange your skate rental and equipment, as needed.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled lesson time to ensure there is enough time to check in. Important safety instructions will be provided at the beginning of class, and any registrants arriving 15 minutes after the class start time may not be able to join the lesson.

Roller Skates and Equipment: 

  • We will have roller skate and protective gear rentals available on-site for a fee ($18.00 per skate rental, protective gear included).
  • Participants are welcome to bring their own gear. Those with their own gear are responsible for ensuring all equipment is in working order ahead of their session.
  • All participants supplying their own gear and safety equipment are responsible for ensuring their equipment is in good working order and fits properly ahead of their lesson. 

What you need to know:

  • There is a maximum capacity of 20 participants per 45-minute session (two groups of 10 people_. Register ahead of time to secure your spot. 
  • You will register for a 6:30pm start or a 7:30pm start. 
  • Your registration is not transferable; please show up on time for the time slot you sign up for.
  • Upon arrival, please check-in at The Bentway registration table. 
  • We are unable to accommodate skaters below the age of 16 at this time. All skaters aged 16 and 17 must have a parent or legal guardian available to sign their waiver. Digital signature links will be made available for participants whose guardians are not in attendance. 
  • This venue is wheelchair accessible.
