Call for Winter Season Volunteers

As the holiday season begins to ramp up, so does our programming here at The Bentway. And that means we’re looking for some amazing volunteers!

Skate Lesson Assistants

Starting Thursday, December 27th (so soon!), we are happy to offer Free Skate Thursdays from 5:00pm to 9:00pm each week, courtesy of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.

Courtesy of The West Toronto Skating Club, we also are offering free Drop-In Skating Lessons. We are looking for Skate Lesson Assistants to help ensure our lessons run smoothly. Duties include assisting the skate coaches in maintaining a safe space, getting skate waivers signed, ensuring helmets are worn by underage participants and general way finding.

This role is perfect for those who enjoy being active and on their feet, interacting with all of our visitors. You will need to be outside for the entire duration of your shift so please dress accordingly. A solid comfort level with ice skating is an asset, but not necessary as you will only occasionally need to be on the Skating Trail.

Polar Bear Skate – Registration Volunteers

We have an exciting new event this winter called The Bentway Polar Bear Skate on Sunday, December 30th. A twist on the traditional polar bear dip, this event lets skaters strip to their intimates and skate around the trail! We need help registering our participants, ensuring they sign the waiver, general crowd control and way finding.

The Registration Volunteer role is ideal for organized, friendly people who want to be a part of a unique experience. You will be outside, so dress warm and get ready for a fun day!

Visitor Surveys

All season long, we like to survey our audience to get a sense of who is visiting The Bentway and what they’re most interested in. Survey volunteers will use their great social skills to interact with the our visitors and conduct surveys. Volunteers should feel comfortable approaching our visitors and answering general wayfinding questions.
