Shore Lines

Toronto-based design firm RAW Work presents Shore Lines, a series of modular, soccer field-inspired furniture welcoming you to connect and rest underneath the Gardiner. Inspired by Toronto’s original shoreline, which the Gardiner Expressway traces, these comfortable benches will appear as one continuous soccer pitch along the Bentway Skate Trail’s southern edge.

Toronto-based design firm RAW Work presents Shore Lines, a modular furniture installation offering a moment of rest and connection within the energy of the FIFA Fan Festival™. Drawing inspiration from Toronto’s original shoreline south of Fort York—a geography now traced by the Gardiner Expressway—the work reimagines this lost terrain as a rhythmic place to gather.

Installed along the southern edge of the Bentway Skate Trail, a series of sculptural benches come together to form one continuous, soccer-inspired landscape. With vibrant colour and astroturf surfaces referencing the playing field, Shore Lines invites visitors to pause, sit, and connect under the Gardiner Expressway.

Le studio de design torontois RAW Work présente Shore Lines, une installation de mobilier modulaire offrant un moment de pause et de rencontre au sein de l’effervescence du FIFA Fan Festival™. S’inspirant du littoral d’origine de Toronto, au sud de Fort York – dont le tracé est aujourd’hui repris par l’autoroute Gardiner –, l’œuvre réinvente ce territoire disparu en un lieu de rassemblement cadencé.

Le long du côté sud du Bentway Skate Trail, une série de bancs sculpturaux s’étend en un paysage continu inspiré du soccer. Avec ses couleurs vives et ses surfaces en gazon synthétique évoquant le terrain de jeu, Shore Lines invite le public à faire une pause, à s’asseoir et à se retrouver sous l’autoroute Gardiner.
