Halloween at The Bentway

Get into the Halloween spirit with The Bentway! Join us for a week full of spooky stories, a ghost walk and, yes, the return of your favourite pup-friendly paw-rty, Howl’oween, presented by Ren’s Pets.

With support from Pawsitive Spirits and Open Farm, get your best canine costume ready and come dressed to impress on October 28. Participate in our Howl’oween Costumed Pup Parade and Contest, complete with fabulous prizes, celebrity judges, music, a gourd-geous photo station, cozy drinks, and bark-tacular local vendors. Bring your best tricks and treats and prepare for a tail-riffic afternoon of Halloween family fun! 

Stop by The Bentway Studio after dusk from October 24 to 31 to view Ghost Landing, a large-scale windowfront installation by Toronto artist duo Caterwaul Theatre. Encounter urban legends and myths of the CityPlace neighbourhood and its inhabitants (both real and spectral) through innovative shadow puppetry, storytelling, and a series of Jack-O-Lanterns created by local artists.   

Think you know all the CityPlace urban legends? On October 26, Caterwaul Theatre will lead a Ghost Walk through Canoe Landing Park featuring neighbourhood stories that blur fact, fiction, and myth.  There will also be an opportunity to tell your own stories at a shadow puppet workshop on The Bentway Studio terrace.  

You can also stop by during the annual CityPlace Halloween Crawl between 6:00pm – 9:00pm on October 31 for an extra trick and treat. 

If you’re passing through York Street and Lakeshore Blvd between, look up! The Boom Buddies of Waterfront ReConnect: Boom Town are getting Halloween-ready. You can spot a “Boo Buddy” hanging out under the Gardiner October 20 to November 1. Boom Town positions a fleet of boom lifts as street theatre, with a rotating cast of characters that help the city welcome the changing seasons.
