Northern Lights Astronomy

The Bentway’s winter installation, The Gateway, celebrates the brilliance of the northern lights, which are at their most vibrant in the depths of winter. Join astronomer Dr. Laurie Rousseau-Nepton for an evening of learning and traditional oral storytelling rooted in her Innu culture.

A team of student astronomers from the University of Toronto will lead a series of activities around this natural phenomenon, featuring light demonstrations to simulate the atmospheric glow of an aurora, alongside scientific explanation. This presentation aims to deepen our connection and understanding of an extraordinary celestial phenomenon that has inspired us to look to the night sky for millennia.
