Roller Skate Lessons
Two sessions: 6pm-7pm and 7pm-8pm from June 13 to September 5, 2025.
Learn how to roll with us! This summer, we’re offering weekly roller skate lessons for those who are looking to gain basic skills. Our expert instructors will help novice skaters build confidence on wheels and navigate our figure-eight trail.
Roller Skate Party: September
The Melanin Skate Crew is a trio of talented people with one shared goal: to spread love and joy through roller skating. In skate culture, crews are formed to showcase choreographed tricks and move together on the rink, similar to your favourite pop bands and dance groups growing up!
Roller Skate Party: August
BEATS + SKATES events offer a unique blend of skate culture, dance, visual art and music production for the masses. Join the fun, skill-sharing environment at the skate trail featuring live painting by a local street artist. Roll and dance the night away to tunes from J YOUNG and Ms. Myles.

It’s a birthday party! The Melanin Skate Crew is turning 5! In 2020, The Melanin Skate Crew started small meet-ups in parking lots, basketball courts, and school yards, and now host hundreds of skaters at their iconic themed events. Dress in your best yellow and black and celebrate in style at The Bentway! DJ Lighter will be on site bringing the vibes.

BEATS + SKATES events offer a unique blend of skate culture, dance, visual art and music production for the masses. Join the fun, skill-sharing environment at the skate trail featuring live painting by MONKYI. Local DJ favourites Sudaneeyaa and Jaime-Lee are behind the decks to keep you moving.
Dino Run: September
If your kids like dinosaurs, they’ll love Dino Runs! This fun-filled morning starts with costumed Dino Specialists teaching participants about dinosaurs through song, dance, storytelling, and games. Then, the kids will set out as Dino Explorers on an exciting, non-competitive chase to recapture runaway dinosaurs. These fun and educational events sold out in 2024!

Sun/Shade Curators’ Tours
May 24 & 25, 2:00pm-3:30pm. June 19, July 17, August 21, 6:30pm – 8:00pm.
Go behind the scenes of our Sun/Shade outdoor art exhibition by joining a curators’ tour with The Bentway’s Programming team. Learn about the inspiration behind the season, the creation of each artwork, and how they fit together. Sun/Shade explores new ways of collaborating with the sun, as well as the importance of shade, in our urban spaces.
